An 81-year-old man on his motorcycle was killed on a head-on collision at the intersection of 7200 south and State Street this morning around 7:00 a.m. Officers identified the wrong-way driver as Cesar Riviera Herrera who was suspected of being intoxicated at the scene of the crash. Mr. Herrera was driving southbound on State Street when he colliding with the 81-year-old man and consequently collided with another vehicle that was turning right on State Street.
We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the 81-year-old man whose life was taken so tragically. We also hope for the rapid recovery of the other driver involved in this accident.
This was something that could have been prevented if the at-fault driver would have simply called someone else to get a ride home. We send out a reminder and a plea to all drivers to never drive intoxicated and always arrange a ride home.
